THIS IS HOW
I MADE IT

Hi! I’m Carla. I got started running on a whim several years ago. I was tired of being on the couch and decided to do something about it. I started training in March, ran my first half marathon by July and my first full marathon by September. 

Since then, I set many goals for myself that some thought were unachievable. My first goal was to run the Boston Marathon. Did that within my first year of running. 

From there, I set my sights on running all 50 states. I have just over 10 to go. 

I love the things running has done for me, but more I love the people I have come in contact with along the way.

Here are some of my favorite accomplishments:

  • I qualified for  Boston at the Last Chance BQ Marathon in Grand Rapids, MI in 2016 and completed the Boston Marathon in 2017. I qualified  4 more times but haven't gone back. I'm on schedule to complete my 50th state marathon in May of 2025.

  • I have came in 1st place in my Age Group 15 times. First female once and several other podium Age Group finishes.

  • I completed my first 100 mile race in 2022 and was 1st in my AG and 4th female overall. 

  • I completed a 50 miler in 2023 as 3rd Female and 1st in my AG.
  • In 2019 I started learning to swim and completed the Wisconsin Ironman in 2021. Thanks to Covid I was able to train for the swim an extra year. From the date of this writing (2024) I haven't swam since.
