From episode: Running in Quirky Costumes: Charlotte Corriher's 250+ Marathon Traditions Unveiled
in your running journey, you have the 50 states you finished, you have several 100s you finished. Along that way, have you had any setbacks with injury or anything like that? Only a few. I have been very fortunate, knock on wood. A couple of years ago, actually it was way back, just in a random non -running related accident, I broke my foot and it was right before I would need to start training for, I think I was training for Baltimore Marathon 2008. But I just had it in my mindset, told the doctor, I'm like, I need to be realistic about that. It was in the summer, so I was able to basically heal up and train safely and was able to finish the race. But recently I had a little bit about with plantar fasciitis, which I can't believe, you know, going on running 20 years, I'm just now hitting that. So just dealing with the pain and I had a 50k a couple weeks ago, but what I did during the race was because of that, I altered my gait. So the day after, there was a pain on my top of my foot and I'm like, oh goodness. And so I got really worried it was a stress fracture, took a week off, the pain was lessening but still there and no one had some big races stacked up this fall. Finally got it x -rayed, wasn't a stress fracture, wasn't any kind of break, but I just continued to take two weeks off and that pain went away. The plantar fasciitis is still kind of there, but that's manageable, you know. Everybody knows all the different techniques and things to do to try to combat that. So it's getting better, but I'm very fortunate that I haven't had any sort of major incident where I've had to take off a long time, but fingers crossed it won't happen again. Right. Yeah, I think we were talking before we started recording that you do a run -walk and that's probably why you haven't been as injured and it's just now kind of creeping up on you, so good for you.
